At the moment, I’m still obsessing over the drama ‘She was Pretty’! This is the biggest case of 2nd lead man syndrome if ever I saw one. I need to get this out of my system!
SPOILERS up to episode 15.
I guess there wouldn’t be a storyline if there wasn’t some kind of angsty tension between the two leads, but…seriously why do nice guys always finish last?
If you’ve seen episode 15, you will now know that Shin Hyuk does a generous, gallant and selfless thing by giving up his anonymity as the writer TEN to save Most Magazine. I was cursing at my tv. It’s so Mr Darcy like and perfect!
Seriously though, Siwon is such a scene stealer. If his character hadn’t been so hilarious and multi faceted, I wouldn’t have given a damn!
My favourite scenes from the drama are actually all the scenes involving him saying good bye to Hye Jin in some way. If I am looking for a positive, I guess we wouldn’t get them if he did end up with the girl.
The scenes I love are!
- The coin flipping scene where he lets Hye Jin go. Ugh, his little heartbroken face when he looks the coin and realises fate is even telling him he will never get the girl! And then when his theme tune comes on…makes it even worse.
- When he says goodbye to her after he takes her to the amusement park. It’s his last time with her as a ‘normal’ person but at this point no one knows why he’s doing it.
- Obviously the most recent scene where he magically pops up out of nowhere to say goodby to Hye Jin. Felt like a goodbye before Siwon’s military enlistment. It was sweet!
I really enjoyed the revelations we got of Shin Hyuk’s backstory. From the looks of it he was a Korean adoptee who lived in the US, was secretly rich, living in a hotel, a famous author….so much plot to play with!
Anyway, I hope when Siwon gets back from the military, I can watch him in another drama where he’s co starring with Hwang Jung Eum! They are both really fun to watch together.
