Jeff Koons: Now
One gallery that I’ve never been to in London is the Newport Street Gallery, which is a hop, skip and a jump away from Vauxhall station. It seems quite a random location because it’s plonked in the middle of a residential area.
However don’t let that deter you. It’s a lovely open space and not crowded at all.
Jeff Koons was exhibiting some of his art at Newport Street Gallery. I’ve heard of his name before but not actually really seen his art. I really loved his inflatable artwork.
This is a giant statue which takes up most of the room. Unfortunately you’re not allowed to touch the artwork so I couldn’t feel the material!
These statues were amazing!
You think they are inflatables but they’re actually metal. You can tell in the photo above. If these were inflatables, the plastic chair would have burst!
At the end of the exhibition, if you follow the stairs down, you can find Damien Hirst’s Pharmacy restaurant. The decor is very much in Damien Hirst’s style.
There are shelves of pills which looks super pretty (I may do this one day!) with barstools and pill embroidered couches to sit on,
I would say the food is so so. The small portions are tiny! But it’s a great place to catch the ambience and enjoy the surroundings.
If you’d like to visit Newport Street Gallery, you can find it on Newport Street, London, SE11 6AJ.
