I can always trust BNT news International to send me something interesting to review! This month, I received The Lavicos Nutrition Hydro Gel Mask!
I don’t think I’ve actually ever reviewed a mask on my site, but let me tell you, I love a good mask!
The Lavicos Nutrition Hydro Gel Mask is a whitening and anti ageing mask! It contains a ‘Swiflet Nest Extract’ which is meant to strengthen the skin’s barrier, making it all kinds of healthy.
So I had to pause right here because I didn’t know what a Swiflet was, but since it mentioned nest, I figured it must be a bird. So whilst I was sitting there with the mask on my face, I found this video on youtube which showed me what the nest extract is…
It’s bird spit.
Mmm, AJU nice!
I already have the mask on my face so I can’t act like I’m disgusted. I mean I already accept snail slime as the norm. So on with the review!
How To Use
After you’ve cleansed and toned the face, peel open the pouch and you will find that the mask is divided into two parts. You need to remove each section of the mask from the film, making sure that you use the side with the transparent film on! Then you are ready to place the hydro gel mask on your face. The package recommends to leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes. When the time is up, tap your face to absorb the remaining serum!
What it feels like
It’s very jelly like with a mesh hatching pattern on it! The material feels a bit more lux than your regular ‘cotton’ masks but I have to say it was a bit of a handful trying to manoeuvre it onto my face. Once on, I liked the cooling sensation. I’m not sure if it was my imagination but I felt a slight tingle on my skin. Nothing too abrasive and it didn’t last for long.
I really wanted the mask to sit under my eyes so that my ‘eye bags’ get to be treated as well, but alas it does not fit unless I push the mask in a certain position.
Another thing, maybe it’s just a BRIT thing but you can’t drink tea at the same time as wearing this! I found that the bottom half of the mask was also slipping over my lips! So I may have taken a swig of bird spit at the same time. Whoops.
After I peeled off the mask, my skin felt a bit tacky which is what I would expect after a use of this kind of sheet mask. I actually do think my skin looks whiter. I noticed on my forehead that it looks a bit plumper as well. It all absorbs into the skin overnight.
The only downside to the Lavicos Nutrition Hydro Gel Mask is that it slips off. By the end of my jaunt, gravity takes it toll and the mouth part was WAAAAY over my lips.
I guess you have to enjoy the mask lying down which is unfortunate as I like to multi-task.
The mask costs 33,500 won which is pretty expensive at £23.00! There are 5 in a packet so it’s around £4.60 each. It is expensive. I had a hunt around the internet for some links but I can’t find where you can buy this! However, if you wanted to try something similar I recommend the Nature Republic hydro gel snail mask!
