Wishtrend’s Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash Review
Just before my holidays, I was contacted by Wishtrend and they asked whether I’d like to try out their new green tea & enzyme powder wash.
Well, I like green tea, not so sure about enzymes, but I thought I’d give it a go!
What’s does the Wishtrend green tea & enzyme powder wash do?
- It’s a low acid moisturising cleanser which also acts as a gentle scrub.
- It’s said to be suitable for all skin types particularly those with acne prone and oily skin.
- It’s also moisturising and offers you a wash without leaving your skin feeling tight.
- It helps to keep blackheads at bay!
What interested me most about this product was that it comes in a powder form. I’ve never tried out a powder product before so I was really curious to see how practical it would turn out to be. I had a feeling it might get messy!
What’s in the Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash?
Its main ingredients are green tea, papain, baking soda and amino acid surfactants.
- Green tea is a great antioxidant which is used here to calm and improve the skin tone.
- Papain is used to get rid of proteolytic enzymes! In layman terms, it helps to get rid of skin waste and thus improves your overall skin texture!
- Baking soda is the ingredient that is working to gently exfoliate the dead skin skills and prevent blackheads.
- The amino acids extracted from coconut work to help your skin absorb more moisture.
How to use the Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash?
Simply mix the powder with a small amount of water and work it into a lather onto your skin! As it is a scrub, wishtrend recommend to use it 2-3 times a week especially if you have sensitive skin.
It is best not to use the wash with other exfoliating products such as retinol or anything with high concentrates of AHA and BHA. In addition, Wishtrend advises to always top off your skincare with sunscreen.
I guess the point is to not over exfoliate the skin and then expose it to the sun. I usually use AHA and an arbutin product, so I stopped using it whilst testing this out.
Testing it Out
The grains of the green tea powder are very soft and fine to touch. It smells so much like green tea! So if you’re a fan of the scent, then you’ll be perfectly happy with this.
I think one of the main things you have to consider is how much water you actually want to add to the powder. The first couple of times I tried it, I was pouring way too much water into my hand. This meant that I didn’t really get the desired scrub I was looking for. After some practice, I worked out that two dabs of a wet finger was enough for me to create the paste that I wanted.
The scrub is indeed gentle to the skin. I never once felt that the grains were too big or sharp. It dissolves very quickly and smooths out into a moisturising paste.
One thing I had trouble with, was rinsing it off well. I had to give it a good couple of rinses until it was fully off my skin. Once when I was putting on my other skin products, I had noticed the wash was still building a very small lather into my skin. I wasn’t bothered so much because it was a moisturizing wash and once mixed with my skincare, my skin would just absorb it! I thought it might be easier if I used this once I was in the shower. Despite dosing my face with continuous shower spray, it still took a while for it to wash off fully.
One thing I liked about this is the format – this is such a travel-friendly cleansing wash. As it is in a powder form there is less chance of it spilling into your bag (and if it does, then you can just sweep it back into the bottle).
I don’t normally like to use a cleansing product in the morning, but it felt like a nice addition because it gives off a very fresh feeling to the skin. If I were to describe it, the green tea & enzyme powder wash feels like a reinvigorating mint to the skin! So if you were looking for an interesting super portable cleansing wash to use then definitely give this one a try, just ensure you don’t rush it and be thorough with your rinsing (so unlike me!)
