‘Still You’ by Donghae and Eunhyuk!
I know I know, I’m a little late on this (I’m a bit late on a lot of things!)
Now with the new year settling in, I’m back to blogging again.
So first off, I really wanted to review ‘Still You’ by Donghae and Eunhyuk!
Why? first things, they’ve managed to shoot a beautiful and simple MV in London. When I first heard they were shooting an MV in London, I thought it was joke!
I really love how they edited this and used the split screens to act as a device throughout the mv.
I don’t think they had a lot of time to shoot this mv, so I’m really glad they managed to catch some sunny weather!
I noticed that they even captured the Lord Mayor’s Bonfire night! I’m presuming those are real fireworks and not CG’d in! The Lord Major’s fireworks is a free event for the city which happened the same night as the Super Junior concert. Talk about good timing!
I really think they managed to capture the things I really like about London! It’s not always crazy and hectic. On sunny days, it can be really pretty especially when you’re walking past really old buildings! My favourite being the Houses of Parliament which is the building you can see behind them! I definitely recommend talking a walk over the bridge for pretty views.
Going by the mv, I would have assumed the song was about the love between Donghae and Eunhyuk.
In a serious case of Sliding Doors, it seems they spend most of the video inhabiting the same spaces in London but tragically missing each other. They spend most of the time wandering around London with Eunhyuk directing rubbish trucks and Donghae thinking about stuff!
How did they end up in a grotty warehouse? (Probably for meat mincing! What do you think?)
In the end, we find out Donghae has been chasing Eunhyuk across the depths of central London so he can reunite him with his fluffy hat!
After which, they walk off together into the sunset!
The song itself, ‘Still You’ is simple and quiet and far from the over processed and loud kpop fare that my ears are usually digesting. It’s refreshing and sweet! The perfect wistful song to listen to when you’re sipping a cup of hot chocolate on an early Sunday morning!
Another thing to take note is that Donghae was in fact the composer and lyricist of this song. Wouldn’t it be nice if SM let him do more things like this? I definitely want to hear more from him because as far as songs go, this one is really good!
