Thinking of a drama to watch? Why not try Meteor Garden?
What’s Meteor Garden about?
It’s the Taiwanese version of Hana Yori Dango! I’ve not seen many Taiwanese dramas but I really like it. Well as you can tell from the image above – it looks really dated! I thought this was made in the 1990s! But it was actually around 2001. The fact that this was made a long time ago should not be the reason to not watch this! It’s still a good drama.
And actually it is pretty difficult to compare all three versions of the drama (that I know of!), I think it’s interesting to watch because the cultures are so different.
Quick fire thoughts!
- The Taiwanese F4 are very handsome!
- I felt that Vic Zhou’s Rui seemed a little blank! Normally I am rooting a bit for Rui and Makino to get together but I’m totally not feeling it in this version!
- Really enjoyed Barbie Hsu as Makino. She was so fiery and sassy!
- It’s probably more to do with cultural difference but I enjoyed seeing a version where they were not afraid of showing the Domyouji character as being more passionate.
- I also HAVE HAIR ENVY! I want Barbie Hsu’s hair. Simply stunning!
