Ukiss in London Concert Review
Finally my first kpop concert of the year! I went to see UKISS on Wednesday. They were performing at The Forum in Kentish Town, London, which was by all accounts an awesomely intimate venue.
The thought of joining some possibly rabid fangirls in standing usually fills me with utter fear! After witnessing several girls being pulled at last year’s Infinite concert, I thought that experience would be something I would avoid! However for UKISS, I decided I was going to brave the pit and see what it would be like in the pit!
I have to say, it really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be! I got early entrance tickets so I was standing about 6 rows from the front, bang in the centre. As the concert went on, somehow I managed to get to 3rd row!. IT WAS AWESOME. That said I wouldn’t say my view was 100% perfect, as there were tall people happening! Yes, there was pushing but it wasn’t something you couldn’t quite help because it was coming from behind. Perhaps because I was so close to the front, there wasn’t really anywhere for me to go anyway.
As for the concert itself, it was completely surreal to have UKISS just THERE singing and dancing in person. I’m so used to youtube streaming! As expected UKISS were indeed excellent and on form with their singing and dancing! My favourite performances of the night had to be Man Man Han Ni, Neverland, 0330, Hana. I also really loved that they performed Love On U! They should really do a Korean version of that song if they haven’t done so already!
Their fanservice was also impeccable! Treating and serenading one lucky girl during ‘mysterious lady.’
This was the only concert where I actually remembered the fan event and participated in it. Basically we were given sheets that said ‘I love Ukiss’ and we were to hold it up during 0330. I think when it comes to things like this, the simple things are the best! Most concerts have so many events that you end up forgetting about them.
Sadly I took absolutely ZERO photos during this concert because security was so so tight! But I found a nice fancam of 0330 on youtube so enjoy this!
Though I can’t believe they didn’t perform Quit Playin’! I was quite disappointed about that because this is the Mono Scandal tour and that song (at least to me) is the big one!! Perhaps they were being mindful of the younger KISSMES but then again, the concert was on a school night! I’m not sure that they would have been there.
Another thing, I thought the sound was awful during the talking segments. I could barely understand what everyone was saying! Maybe I was too close to the speakers because it sounded so muffled.
This was by far the shortest concert I’ve attended. When I say short, I mean it was SHORT…LIKE ONE HOUR AND A HALF SHORT which is a shame because Ukiss have so many great songs. I think it also down to the fact that Ukiss also schedule in a meet and greet after the concet and yes I did indeed go! But it was absolutely not what I would call a meet and greet.
Basically everyone was sent in groups of ten. Ukiss (looking so flawless) were standing in a line in front of a bench. We were ushered to sit down on the said bench so there was no time to say hello or greet them. I honestly didn’t have time to register what was going on! I spent more time finding a spot on the bench. Not to mention having your back facing someone is not really the best way to meet them. After 2 quick photos were taken and we were sent out. I do think Ukiss tried their best given the situation. I had someone touch me on the shoulders and then Eli thanked everyone for coming. I’m guessing Eli was behind me but I can honestly only confirm when I finally see the photograph. That’s how rushed the whole thing was!
But all in all, Ukiss in London was a great show! I hope they will return to play a bigger venue next time with even more songs (and maybe a better meet and greet session?!). Here’s hoping!
